Programmes and programme activities

In 2000, the focus of the activities of NDC Skopje was mainly directed towards students, young politicians, representatives of NGOs and students from the primary schools of Macedonia.

In 2001, the activities were extended on a regional level and there were organized seminars and forums with young leaders and politicians from Serbia, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Croatia. Not just students, young leaders and politicians, but also a part of the journalists were encompassed within the activities of NDC Skopje.

After ending the conflict in Macedonia and signing the Frame contract for peace in 2001, NDC Skopje directed its activities towards promotion of the frame contract and continued to work with youngsters that live in the places influenced by the conflict. In cooperation with OBSE several dialogue sessions were organized with young people from Tetovo, and tribunes with young politicians were intensified on local and regional level as well.

In 2003 and 2004 the focus of the activities was turned towards strengthening the capacities of political parties, actually towards the youth organizations of political parties. Four ”Schools for Young Politicians” were organized where 85 young politicians took participation and eminent professors from Macedonia and abroad as well as a part of the leaders of certain political parties were the teachers of  the schools.

In 2005, after passing the law of territorial division of local self-government, NDC Skopje started with implementation of a new programme  “ Programme for supporting the local self-government” which had a purpose of working on the field of reconciliation in a community which was  occupied by the armed conflict in 2001. The realization of the programme continued throughout 2006, 2007 and 2008. 

For the needs of the activities, NDC Skopje uses resources (professors, trainers, facilitators…) from the Nansen Academy- Lillehammer, Norway, employers from NDC Skopje and some local and foreign resources as well.
